Safety 3P and Sustainability in HA 6th Edition: Connecting Patients, Personnel and the Public
HA Standards 6th Edition provides a broader image of safety by HAI referring to the safety that covers patients, people and the public or the 3P concept with sustainable corporate leadership. This makes the hospital need to review risk management at a level that combines both clinical, workforce, facility and community impact together.
Patient Safety remains the core.
Reducing the risk for patients is also a heart, but it should be more than incident tracking, such as process design reducing error, use data near miss, high-risk process tracking and using tracer to see if the Safety Barrier really works.
Personal Safety Affects Quality of Service
People working in unsafe environments have high workload or constantly face to violence and stress. Repair affects the reliability of care. The hospital should so link Occupational Safety, Workplace Violence, Well-being and Staffing into the Quality Plan.
Public Safety Makes the Hospital Look Out of Enterprise Wall
Hospitals affect communities through waste management, traffic, resource use and emergency response. Safety planning should also consider service users, contractors, the community and other stakeholders.
Sustainability should be connected with resource use.
Sustainability is not just a cost-reduction, but it is to enable the organization to continue providing quality services by using resources properly, both energy, water, material, personnel and budget.
Facility and Infrastructure are a cutting point of 3P.
The electrical system, water, air, emergency systems and operating areas affect patients, people and the public at the same time. The facility management should be in the corporate risk register. It is not a post-home job that the administrator sees only when the event is broken.
Starting approaches
- Combined Risk Register that reflects Patient, Personal and Public
- Review the multi-wailing Safety side indicator.
- Facility and Environmental Risk Assessment
- Connect Sustainability with Procurement and Resource Use
- Reporting important issues to the administrator to see periodically.
ICORP can help the hospital welding quality, safety and facility through Gap Assessment, Risk Review, Workshop and Improvement Roadmap to ensure development according to HA not separated by departments.
