Sample Approval & Specification Freeze: Reducing Problems Before Production
Many problems in production work are not caused by the factory, but due to the Requirement are not closed before the actual production starts. The sampling approval and specification freeze are a key control point of the project.
What is Sample Approval?
It is a sample approval or Mock-up used as a reference together between the customer Supplier and the coordination team to confirm appearance, detail and quality at an agreed level before the actual amount of production.
What is Specification Freeze?
It confirms that key product elements—material, color, dimensions, logo position, artwork, branding technique, packaging and quantity—have been finalized. Any subsequent changes require a fresh assessment of their impact on price and timeline.
What to check in Sample
- Materials and Colors
- Size and shape
- Location Logo / Artwork
- Printing, washing, screen or branding techniques
- Packaging and Setting
- Details that affect real use
Why there is a proof of approval?
When multiple parties are involved, approval with the same set of data reduces differential interpretations and makes QC testing at real production has a clear Reference to what to compare.
If you need to change the back freeze
The impact on the material, MOQ costs, production process and delivery date should be assessed before approval of change. To prevent decision-making specific points affecting the whole project.
