Medical Consumables Sourcing: Reducing Shortages and Specification Mismatches

Many medical materials and materials are continuously required. The supply should not only be considered by price, but should be considered by the conformity of specialties, the availability of the supplier and the continuity of delivery together.

1. Make specification clear before requesting price.

It should be specified product types, the necessary characteristics, estimated quantity and conditions of use. To allow the Supplier to offer comparable options and reduce the risk from unsuitable goods.

2. Separate the required Requirement from Preference.

Some features are a requirement for real use. While some are just user familiarity. This two-part separation increases the option in Sourcing without decreasing the desired quality.

3. Check the availability of Supply not just price per unit.

Lead Time, consistency in delivery and ability to support rolling volume result in operation. Specifically, the product is used continuously or has a regular order cycle.

4. Set up the communication system when a change of goods is made.

If you need to change the version or Supplier, it should be coordinated by users and stakeholders to make the transition so that the transition is controlled and reduced problems on the work page.

5. Connect Procurement with Stock Planning

Good supply should be related to the balance and operating rate. It is not separated by person because too late ordering can cause a lack. While too much ordering may increase storage burden.
