Budgeting for Corporate Gifts: Account for All Costs Before Requesting Quotes
The time of the premium purchase or marketing stops. It usually starts with “price by piece”, but the actual cost of the project may be more than that. Because there are Branding, Sample, Packaging, QC, Shipping and some projects also have a continuous stock or fulfillment value.
Starting from Total Project Cost Not Only Unit Price
The price of 300 bits per piece may be 400–450 bits when combined packaging, box, card, set-up and multiple destination shipping. Thus, the Target Budget should be placed at the level “setting up to set with delivery” or “project-take up” which will help the proposed options be comparable more straightforward.
Separate the shell to 6 main cups.
- Product Cost — Product price or production value
- Customization — Screen, UV Laser or other techniques
- Sampling / Development — Mock-up, Sample or Tooling value of some types
- Packaging — Box, Sleeve Card, Bag and Anti-Strack Materials
- Quality & Logistics — QC, Packing and Transportation
- Storage / Fulfillment — If stored and shipped in the future
Number affects the price structure.
Many types of products have MOQ or have a low-setup value when the number increases. So, requests for prices of 100, 500 and 1,000 pieces may provide a very different unit cost. You should request Price Break when the final number is not certain. To make a decision easier.
Do not use the entire Budget with the item.
If you are 100% using the product from the beginning, there is no room for Packaging or QC, which may be what makes the piece look premium. The discontinuation for Presentation and Delivery Experience is important. Especially for VIP or administrators.
Contingency Preparation for Custom Work
Projects involving new artwork, specific colors, special materials or newly developed packaging have more uncertainty than ready-made products. Allow some budget and time for sample revisions or detail changes before production.
Time for price. Should Budget say?
Giving Target Budget allows Supplier to cut the unsuitable options out faster, but it should be said in parallel with Requirement such as number of objectives, quality and what to be included in price. Not just telling numbers, then telling what you want.
